Perform unit tests for your databases inside Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, then manage tests, classes and database content
Keeping database applications working and maintaining their quality requires a continuous effort. To help developers in this regard, ApexSQL Unit Test integrates SQL unit testing into SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), enabling developers to create and run new tests much easier.
Fast deployment and SSMS integration
Deployment is easy and a new menu named ApexSQL is added to SQL Server Management Studio. However, you can only access the Options to configure the application's behavior from there.
New tests cannot be created until you install tSQLt on your computer. ApexSQL Unit Test makes sure you always get the latest version of the open-source unit testing app. You can reinstall or update tSQLt anytime you want to, from the same menu.
Create new unit tests with ease
Creating new tests and running existing ones is easily done using the right-click menu in the 'Object Explorer'. To generate a new unit test, you must provide it a name and select the test class you want it to use. ApexSQL Unit Test comes with a collection of ready-made SQL Cop tests you can run without having to create them manually. All the tests you create are stored as procedures inside the target database.
The generated SQL file is previewed in SQL Server Management Studio, taking advantage of the powerful editor SSMS comes with. The template is automatically generated, and you just have to fill it in with test statements and details about the database you are testing. Tests are executed as stored procedures, and the result can be 'pass' or 'fail'.
Add unit testing capabilities into SSMS
ApexSQL Unit Test helps you create unit tests in SSMS, run tests and export the results. It provides advanced test management tools and CLI support for automation of tasks, making database management much easier.
